An 8-year-old cat was found on the streets earlier this year in Perth, Western Australia. The calico was in need of a lot of help, as she was underweight and sick.
She was incredibly shy, cowering in a litter box, avoiding eye contact and trying to make herself invisible to everyone. The volunteers approached the social networks, hoping to give the shy kitten a chance at a better life.
Stressed out and scared to death, Simba wanted to disappear and wouldn't come out of the litter box
Cat Haven WA (in Shenton Park, Western Australia) learned of her plight and immediately responded.
At first they thought she was a stray cat, but she had a microchip. They were unable to contact the owners.
The kitten (named Simba) had the saddest eyes you can imagine in a small animal. She was confused and just wanted to hide.
She could not cope with the shelter environment and the stress, and continued to take refuge in the litter box.
Simba, the sad-looking kitten, was ready for a second chance at life
After a few days when no one approached the shelter to claim her, a Cat Haven volunteer came to help her.
They took her home so she could start to calm down and try to gain some trust with the people.
She was moved to a home where she could feel comfortable and begin to relate
Slowly but surely, the girl with the sad eyes came out of her shell. She warmed up to her loving foster family when she realized she was in a safe home. The once shy cat began to seek affection from people and other pets.
There is no record of how long Simba wandered the streets, but he did not become wild at all and quickly found himself back in the comfort of a loving home. That's when they knew she was ready to find a place of her own.
Around that time, Chelsea and her family came across Simba's story and fell in love instantly. They saw through those sad eyes and knew exactly what the kitten needed.
After weeks in foster care, the sweet girl finally had her dream come true.
Chelsea is very happy to say that she has adopted Simba to provide a home for her forever. They hope that even though her eyes are sad, deep in her heart she will be happy forever.
It didn't take long for Simba, who changed her name to Molly, to start looking for her new masters to cuddle with. She likes to follow her humans around the house, rubbing her face in them. This kitten is very happy, a new opportunity is opening up for her.
Now she receives, every day, all the love from her new family
Share this kitten's fate by spreading her story on your social networks.
